In July 2016, I had the distinct honor of receiving the Special Award at the Bangladesh-Bhutan-India-Nepal (BBIN) Business Expo, held in Kolkata and Siliguri, India. This recognition was more than a personal achievement—it was a proud moment for Bangladesh’s business community and a validation of the values I’ve upheld throughout my professional journey.
The BBIN Expo serves as a regional platform to foster economic cooperation, trade integration, and people-to-people connectivity among the four nations. To be recognized in such a diverse and dynamic forum—among hundreds of business leaders, policymakers, and entrepreneurs—was a moment of great pride and profound responsibility.
Recognition Rooted in Contribution
The Special Award was presented to me by none other than the President of the Indian Chamber of Commerce, Mr. M.K. Sharia, in acknowledgment of my contributions to cross-border trade, entrepreneurship, and regional cooperation. As the Chairman of Al-Kaderia Ltd. and an advocate for sustainable business practices, I had spent years building bridges—not only between businesses but also between communities and cultures.
Through my work, I emphasized ethical entrepreneurship, youth employment, and inclusive business growth—principles that resonated well with the core objectives of the BBIN initiative. The award recognized not just my individual efforts but also the collective impact of all those who stood by me, supported my vision, and worked tirelessly to turn ideas into reality.
A Journey of Challenges and Determination
Getting to this milestone was no easy feat. The years leading up to 2016 were filled with trials—navigating bureaucratic red tape, managing limited resources, and pushing for innovation in sectors that were often resistant to change. I traveled extensively, often at personal expense, to attend forums, listen to grassroots entrepreneurs, and advocate for regional trade facilitation.
I sacrificed time with family, reinvested earnings back into business development, and took risks that most would shy away from—all for the sake of building something that could create real, lasting value. The BBIN recognition affirmed that those sacrifices were not in vain.
The Broader Impact
This award also opened doors to stronger partnerships and deeper cooperation. It gave me the platform to represent Bangladeshi entrepreneurs on a wider stage and to champion causes such as SME development, cross-border logistics improvements, and digital trade enablement.
The recognition helped position Al-Kaderia Ltd. as a forward-thinking organization committed to regional progress, and further fueled my drive to contribute to policymaking and advocacy through roles such as my later appointment as a General Body Member of FBCCI.
Looking Ahead
The Special Award at the BBIN Expo 2016 was a highlight of my professional life, but it was not the destination—it was motivation. It reminded me that leadership is not about titles or trophies; it’s about impact, perseverance, and service to a greater cause.
Today, as I continue to work across sectors—whether in business, advocacy, or community development—I carry that honor not as a personal accolade, but as a symbol of what we can achieve through commitment, integrity, and collaboration.
